Historic Glen Rose, one of the area’s most scenic towns, is often described as the start of the Texas Hill Country. This popular ranching and farming community, close to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, is home to the 1,800-acre Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, the Dinosaur Valley State Park with its famed dinosaur footprints in the Paluxy Riverbed and the well-known downtown amphitheater.
On the eastern border of the state park is the 4B Ranch, a 360-acre working ranch that includes an elegant rock and cedar finished home completed in 2009 with more than 6,200 square feet of living space and more than 10,000 square feet under roof.
With five bedrooms, the two-story house has 30-foot ceilings in the main room with a large fireplace. The well-equipped kitchen has granite countertops, custom cabinetry, top-of-the-line appliances and a beamed ceiling. There is also a butler’s pantry, home office, game and media rooms.
The first-floor master suite has a fireplace, library and sitting area. In a separate wing are four secondary bedrooms.
Outdoor living is at its finest with a deep, covered porch that runs the length of the home’s west side, providing views at sunset of the lake, valley and park. An outdoor kitchen is great for entertaining, and native stacked stone walls lead to the pool and spa.
This ranch is ideal for hiking, hunting, fishing or just watching the abundant wildlife, as well as horse and cattle operations. The horse barn has 10 stalls with turnouts, a tack room and loft apartment. Working pens and an arena are now used for team roping. An equipment barn/shop also has a large apartment with a kitchen.
Although an easy drive from most populated areas, there is a 2,500-foot grass landing strip.
Perfect for any Texan, the 4B Ranch at 3343 FM 56 North is being offered for $4.2 million.
